Rhine Legends is a short (96-page) collection of 18 stories set in various cities on the Rhine river, most of them between Mainz and Kรถln. You'll read about Siegfried and how he slayed the dragon, the Bishop of the Mouse Tower, the enchanting Lorelei, love and betrayal, and other fascinating tales.
I liked this book- I've been looking for such things to enhance our time in Germany. The tales are interesting, the delivery average. It's told from the river's perspective, which is a twist. They often mention monuments or buildings still extant- next time I'm in towns with them, I'll have to look them up. I wish other such collections existed.
