Fort McHenry

A few months ago, we took the family to see Fort McHenry, the fort that famously defended Baltimore during the War of 1812 and inspired Francis Scott Key to write The Star-Spangled Banner. Located in the Locust Point neighborhood, it was a great day out.

The fort can be seen in an hour or less. It is (surprisingly) small but interesting, and offers great views of the surrounding harbor. Though we didn't stop in it, the Locust Point neighborhood looked really nice as well, with several eating options I'd love to explore sometime.
