Released in 2006, Casino Royale is the first Bond movie with Daniel Craig as 007. Though it's the 21st film in the franchise, it is chronologically the first, showing James as he achieves 00 status and begins his career for Queen and country. Here, Bond takes on Le Chiffre- international banker for terrorists across the globe- and looks to bring him down through winning his money in a high-stakes poker game. When the chips are down, there are few you can trust- can Bond prevail?
This is a good movie- widely agreed to be Daniel Craig's best Bond film (he's done four to date). The action/effects are good, scenery is wonderful, and the story isn't rushed (a nice contrast to more recent offerings). In fact, the pace can seem a bit slow or erratic at times- I thought the film was going to end 30 minutes before it did- but overall, this is worth checking out.
