Star Wars: Allies and Adversaries (Empire Volume 5)

It's graphic novel Sunday!  Today: the fifth trade paperback in the Empire comic series.

Allies and Adversaries collects issues 23-27 of the Empire series.  All told, there are three stories:

1) The Bravery of Being Out of Range (Story: C, Art: A-)

BoShek (a smuggler who is in Episode IV- his pic is below) unwillingly gets caught in the middle of a Rebel-Imperial conflict when he helps an undercover Imperial escape the Rebels.
BoShek, as seen in A New Hope

2) Idiot's Array (Story: B-, Art: B-)

Han Solo runs into an old flame- and trouble- as he's trying to procure parts for the Alliance.  He's betrayed and turned over to Jib Kopatha, an information broker who showed up earlier in the series.  Jib tries to torture the location of the Rebel fleet out of Han, but Solo is saved by Chewbacca and Sheel (the old lover).

3) "General" Skywalker (Story: A-, Art: B-)

Luke is part of a Rebel team setting up a listening outpost on a remote world.  There he discovers a relic from a bygone era: a downed clone gunship, and along with it, a lone survivor.  The clone, out of contact for 20 years, gets a galactic history lesson in a hurry, and helps the Rebels when they are ambushed by Imperials.

This collection is okay, but still not as good as earlier collections.  The last story about the clone was a good concept, if not executed overly well.

Rating: B-
