Growing up, I never had aspirations to travel. I enjoyed trips, certainly, but I didn't think much beyond my immediate vicinity. When I got a job in Germany in 2007 (at my wife's encouragement), my perspective changed. We spent seven years overseas (Germany, then England), and loved it. Here are some thoughts after going there (Europe) and back again. I compare America to Europe here, and Germany to the UK here.
After a four-year hiatus, we moved back to Germany (in 2018), and enjoy living there until 2021. All told, we spent nearly ten years overseas (almost seven in Germany and three in England), which exposed me to many countries and countless cultures. Below are links to my main travel posts; these are from our first European stint (2007-14). More recent travels can be found by perusing all posts tagged 'travels.'; these include our more recent journey (2018-2021).
