Lincoln, Cambridge, Ely

As time winds down, my travel posts will focus more on pictures, less on text.  Today the focus is Lincoln, Cambridge, and Ely- all in/near the east midlands of England.  We saw all three on a trip in the fall of 2012.

Lincoln Cathedral

Ancient and with an interesting front facade, I wanted to see Lincoln Cathedral due to historical importance.
Eleanor (wife of Edward I), Knights Templar on trial, the Magna Carta- lots of interesting things are associated with it.

Cambridge

The famous college town, Cambridge has noticeably more charm than its sister institution, Oxford.  In addition to beautiful architecture (especially the King's College Chapel), it boasts various waterways and punting.  Highly recommended for a nice day out.

Ely Cathedral

Not so far from Cambridge is Ely, with (what else?) a nice cathedral.  Note the unusual pronounced assymetric design.

Conclusion

These sites are all worth seeing.  If you had to pick one, pick Cambridge.
