In A Glass Darkly is a collection of five horror/ghost stories by Sheridan Le Fanu. They're told based on papers of a deceased "occult detective," Dr. Martin Hesselius.
The first three stories in the collection are decent; the last two, The Room in the Dragon Volant and Carmilla, are outstanding. Carmilla concerns vampires and is said to have influenced Stoker's Dracula; Le Fanu himself is considered the leading ghost story writer of the 1800s. Overall, if you enjoy Victorian gothic fiction, you'll like this.
