Southwest Germany

Given its proximity to our home, we spent remarkably little time in southwest Germany, with only one dedicated trip and two stops on our way elsewhere.  Looking back through the photos, I'm impressed with how few we took, and how bad they were quality-wise.  Time, training, and better cameras make a big difference.

Triberg

Nestled in the Schwarzwald (black forest), Triberg is a quaint little town.  I recall little of our visit in December 2007, save for the bone-chilling temperatures.

Hohenzollern Castle

An impressive array of architecture and fortification, the current structures were built in the mid-1800s, well after the age of castles.  Still, like Neuschwanstein Castle, it's worth a visit.

Lichtenstein Castle

A small but impressively-situated structure, with breathtaking views of the valley below.

Ulmer Munster

For 11 years, Ulmer Munster was the tallest building in the world.

Conclusion

Southwest Germany is not without its charms, but we saw little due to the competing sights nearby (Switzerland and France).
