With Disney's announcement that all previously-published Star Wars material is no longer considered 'canon,' I've decided to go through relevant books and decide if their quality bears keeping regardless of their now-nullified status. First up: Chewbacca.
In the first book of the 19-novel New Jedi Order story arc (reviewed here), Han's faithful partner Chewbacca is killed. He was the first major character to be killed off in the Expanded Universe (EU). To celebrate his [fictional] life, Dark Horse Comics released Chewbacca- a graphic novel consisting of 10 short stories about Chewie. Each story is quite short, told by different people (his wife, his father, Han, Leia, Luke, Lando, Wedge Antilles, a slaver, and a few others), and celebrates a significant act Chewie performed during his life. As such, a variety of tales are told, from courtship, slavery, Han meeting Chewie, and more.
While the whole book is short and an easy read, I can't recommend it. Some tales are overly unbelievable, silly, or dumb. The most interesting and relevant chapter deal with Han & Chewbacca's first meeting . . . other than that, this can be skipped.
