The story in the movie Ocean's Eleven plus the Star Wars universe equals Scoundrels, the latest offering from long-time Star Wars author Timothy Zahn. In Scoundrels, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Lando and a team of 'specialists' (eleven folks all told) take a job that promises to pay big- to the tune of 163 million credits. To cash in, though, Han and company have to access a near-impregnable vault owned by a criminal with ties to the Black Sun criminal organization. Will he succeed?
I loved Ocean's Eleven. I love Star Wars. I don't see the need to combine the two. Zahn's book is okay, but not great. He's a good author, certainly- one of my favorite Star Wars writers. But a few plot implausibilities coupled with complete irrelevance to moving the Star Wars saga forward turned me off to this one. Star Wars is cool, but it's silly to take other well-known movies and put a Star Wars spin on them.
